Adrienne PierceAdrienne Pierce

Founder / Director / Board Member

Business ownership was never on the agenda when living in the King Country town of Te Kuiti and nursing at the local hospital. Living on a lifestyle deer farming property with two gorgeous little boys, life was busy and happy.

To cut a long story short, 17 years later Adrienne is an extremely experienced franchisor with a track record of business success. Now living in Havelock North with three businesses under her belt, Smart being the latest (and the last). The two gorgeous little boys are now men, she is remarried to Alan and step mother of two more fun adult children. Life is good.

Prior to setting up Smart Adrienne founded Bay Nursing Network in the early 1990s, and then co-founded PORSE in 1994. PORSE franchisor and PORSE franchisees were recognised nationally with the following awards:

  • 2001 Franchise Association of New Zealand Business Awards, Regional Award, Bay of Plenty/Waikato region, PORSE Nanny Childcare Agency, Franchisee winner
  • 2001 Franchise Association of New Zealand Business Awards, Regional Award, Hawke’s Bay region, PORSE Nanny Childcare Network, Franchise system winner
  • NZ Franchise Awards 2002, Team Excellence Award, PORSE Franchising (NZ) Ltd

Following the sale of her shares in the PORSE Network in 2003, Adrienne co-founded the Smart franchise with the franchising experience gained in her time as a director and major shareholder of PORSE.

Adrienne has an extensive knowledge of the establishment and operation of a successful franchise business. “I am a great believer in franchising, having seen the benefits for both the franchisor and franchise owner first hand,” she says, “In my experience, franchising is a very efficient, effective way to build a business.”

She has been a member of the Franchise Association of New Zealand for nine years and a Board Member from 2003 to 2009.

So there have been lots of interesting things happen along the way – juggling business with the rest of her busy life. The most important things in Adriennes life are still family, friends, trying to help people when you can, being involved in charitable causes, working to make a difference in the community you live in and of course being involved in a business model that helps people and makes a difference.
